    Biomarkers

    • Testosterone Total: Testosterone is a growth hormone produced by the adrenal cortex. It is important for the maintenance of bone and muscle mass, as well as the male reproductive system. Low testosterone in men leads to symptoms such as fat storage, fatigue, and loss of muscle mass. Testosterone Total is the standard biomarker and refers to the total amount of testosterone in the body.

    • Free Testosterone: Testosterone is a growth hormone produced by the adrenal cortex. It is important for the maintenance of bone and muscle mass, as well as the male reproductive system. Low testosterone in men leads to symptoms such as fat storage, fatigue, and even depression. Free Testosterone refers to the amount of bioavailable testosterone in the body and allows for a more thorough diagnosis.

    • DHT: The hormone Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is an androgen, meaning it is involved in the development of male characteristics, including prostate and hair growth. An imbalance of DHT is commonly associated with male pattern baldness and problems with the prostate.

    • Cortisol: Released by the adrenal glands, cortisol is the stress hormone that maintains the body’s energy by regulating the release of glucose, and the usage of this glucose as an energy source. In times of elevated stress, high cortisol leads to adrenal fatigue, increased cravings, and a slower metabolism. All of these lead to a reduction in energy and increased weight gain.

    • DHEA: Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a hormone produced by the adrenal gland. While the body uses DHEA as a precursor for other hormones, it also maintains the metabolism. Healthy DHEA levels are linked to reduced fatigue and weight loss.

    • TSH: Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH) regulates hormone production in the thyroid. When TSH production is irregular, it can lead to symptoms of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. Additionally, abnormal functioning of the thyroid leads to a myriad of symptoms including fatigue and unprecedented weight gain.
