The glucose (sugar) in our blood is taken in through our diets and absorbed into the cells using insulin. Low levels of insulin cause blood sugar levels to rise and starve the cells of energy. Proper levels of glucose in our blood can be improved by a healthy diet and exercise; constant monitoring of glucose will support you in adjusting treatments and making changes in your lifestyle.
Total Cholesterol: (TC) is the measure of all cholesterol found in your
bloodstream, including High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) and Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL). Your TC will help in identifying the risk of myocardial infarction (heart attack), along with other cardiovascular issues.
High-Density Lipoprotein: (HDL), more commonly known as “good” cholesterol, helps to remove forms of harmful cholesterol such as LDL. In fact, a higher level of HDL is linked to a lower risk of heart disease.
Low-Density Lipoprotein: A large majority of the cholesterol in your body is known as Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL). Too much LDL will cause a buildup of “plaque” along the walls of your blood vessels causing them to narrow which can lead to chest pains (angina) and eventually more serious cardiovascular complications. This is known as your “bad” cholesterol.
Triglycerides: (TG) are the most common type of fat found in the body. An abundance of TG leads to weight gain and can be caused by a consistent caloric surplus, specifically through glucose (sugar), excessive alcohol use, some medicines, various medical conditions including type 2 diabetes, and some genetic disorders.
high-sensitivity C-Reactive Protein: (hsCRP) is produced by the body as a result of inflamed blood-vessel walls. This can be useful to indicate cardiovascular health and help to identify any problems that may be present in your system.
